These terms govern your use of ZouWu (zouwu.net). In short: use the site for personal reflection, do not abuse it, and know that it is a cultural and educational resource provided for entertainment and reflective purposes only — not a source of advice, and not a promise of any outcome.
ZouWu is a personal project operated by an independent developer, not a company. The site is supported by optional reading packs rather than by advertising or by selling your data. Support questions go to hello@zouwu.net, and we answer within 3 business days.
ZouWu is a cultural learning and self-reflection tool based on the I Ching (Book of Changes), an ancient Chinese classic. You bring a question; the site casts a hexagram using the traditional coin method or the ancient yarrow-stalk (Great Expansion) method; and the site presents the classic Judgment and Line texts in James Legge's 1899 public-domain English translation, together with original editorial commentary written by the editors.
By accessing or using zouwu.net, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the site, and if you buy a reading pack you confirm that you are legally able to enter into a contract for it. If you use the site on behalf of someone else, you are responsible for their compliance with these terms.
Every new visitor receives 6 free readings, limited to 3 per day. The free core of the site runs entirely in your browser and requires no account. Free-reading counts are tied to your browser or device, so clearing your browser data may affect them.
Once the free readings are used up, you can continue by purchasing a reading pack:
— A first pack of 10 readings for $3.99.
— From your 17th reading onward: 10 readings for $5, 20 readings for $9, or 50 readings for $20.
All prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax or value-added tax, which our Merchant of Record calculates and collects at checkout where it is required. Packs do not expire. The price shown at checkout is the price that applies to your order; later price changes never affect packs you have already bought.
Purchased packs can be shared with friends through share codes. Anyone who holds a share code can use the readings it contains, so share only with people you trust. Sharing is at your own risk: we cannot restore readings consumed by someone you shared a code with, and we cannot restore a code you have lost.
Purchases are processed by our Merchant of Record, which acts as the seller of record for the transaction and issues the receipt. Reading packs are digital content delivered immediately: they are usable as soon as your payment completes. Refunds are described in our Refund Policy.
You may use ZouWu for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not: use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the site or its texts; resell or commercially redistribute packs, share codes, or site content; attempt to circumvent reading limits or payment; or use the site in any unlawful way. We may rate-limit or block access in cases of abuse.
The English text of the Judgments and Lines is taken from James Legge's 1899 translation of the I Ching, which is in the public domain. Original commentary, introductions, site design, and other site content are © ZouWu and may not be copied or republished without permission, beyond ordinary personal use and quotation.
ZouWu provides cultural texts and editorial commentary for entertainment and reflective purposes only. Nothing on the site is medical, psychological, financial, investment, legal, or other professional advice, and no particular outcome is promised. See the Disclaimer for details.
The site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ZouWu is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the pack concerned. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights.
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
